L.A. Live Hotel & Residences building
SSE completed the first steel-plate shear wall high-rise in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, California. The owner's main objective was to maximize tenant space while sustaining the integrity and strength of the entire steel structure. Thus, steel-plate shear walls and BRB core bracings were injected into the design to accomplish both tasks and counteract seismic activity. The Herrick Corporation praised us for our detailing efforts that led to the project completion two months ahead of schedule.
It has been said by some that the LA Live project will be the initial process of the conformation of downtown, Figueroa St. into the "Time Square" of Los Angeles, in comparison to New York City's Time Square. (...read full story
